About the artist: Ralph Papa   Artist in his studio /photo '94

Ralph Papa has been drawing and painting since childhood in New York City's East Harlem. Primarily self taught, he later in his twenties studied art and architecture at Queens College and CCNY and painted at the Art Students League.

Papa's works range from studio paintings using real and imagined themes, to figurative, portraits and plein air painting. Many of his studio works are larger than life pensive faces.  Beginning in the mid 1980's, he painted on-location in New York's Hudson Valley and Long Island Hamptons and later in Palm Beach County Florida. The subjects of his paintings are often from nature, life experiences and personal reflections of family and friends. Most recent works are plein air landscapes and studio paintings of imaginative compositions that visually link to artists he very much admires.

Ralph Papa paints in New York and Southeast Florida and teaches drawing and painting in Palm Beach County at Old School Square in Delray Beach, the Boca Raton Museum Art School and Lighthouse ArtCenter at Tequesta. Papa is a co-founder of Plein Air Palm Beach and a Signature Member and Past President of the Artists Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art. His artworks are in public and private collections in the US and Canada. and can be viewed at the Neighborhood Gallery and Artists Guild Gallery in   Palm Beach County and on his websites at www.papagallery.com and RalphPapa.com.
